Known for its vitamin enriched, antioxidants, antibacterial, and moisturizing effects, Olive Oil has a long list of great aftereffects in why it could be used as a main ingredient in a cosmetic brand. But could the idea of a exclusive olive oil based cosmetic line compete and gain market share in an already saturated industry?
With a vision and scientific research to help support their concept. We were approached to assist in market research and a launch strategy that included development, internal testing, external testing, objective and goal setting, positioning, excitement building and event timing. Not only were we given the challenge of formulating a step by step strategy to grow a small cosmetics brand, but we also ended up having the pleasure of creating the branding and product/logo design as well.

The Design Process
After market research was completed to exhibit the viability of the idea of the project and the launch strategy was presented to demonstrate the start to finish process for a successful launch of the Oliva Cosmetics. Following short after, we started on Branding, Product and Logo Design.
One things that all of our different design processes have in common is we keep the client in contact with us every step of the way unlike many firms who only bring in the client during the final feedback stages. We found from very early on the client had a specific style of olive oil they wanted to use for the product as it had added health benefits due to the strain, extraction techniques and harvest time. This played a huge factor in the overall branding, messaging, product design and marketing.
A deeper darker green, similar to the first ripe olives of the “primera cosecha” or “first crop” of the year, producing the darkest, greenest, spiciest olive oil was chosen for the final colorway. It also best represents the olive oil used to help produce the Oliva Cosmetics. A soft cream color accompanied the green to help smooth out the over look and feel of the brand and keep/communicate to the desired target market. The logo was also updated and simplified to keep inline with the rest of the branding.
